Ayurveda and Yoga for Summer Joy

Understanding your connection to the natural cycles of life and how you can live in harmony with them is the greatest gift you can give to yourself for enhancing total mind, body, soulful wellbeing. 

As bright and buoyant as the Summer season can seem, it can be common to feel the humidity of the time manifesting as;

  • mental and emotional agitation,

  • anger and impatience in mood,

  • also/or physically experience symptoms of skin irritation,

  • heart burn,

  • nausea,

  • migraines

  • and acne. 

What is Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the lesser known sister science of Yoga and means ‘Science of Life’. It provides a framework for building an understanding of your own body and mind “type” or “dosha” which in turn forms the basis for food, lifestyle and Yoga practice approaches that are best suited to you throughout all the changing seasons of life. 

Ayurveda is Yoga “off the mat” and the practical applications of living with awareness in your day to day life.

According to Ayurveda, Summer awakens qualities of Pitta dosha, which is hot, sharp, oily, spreading and liquid. And because like attracts like, Summer issues of the body and mind including agitation, low digestive fire, sour stomach and skin irritations can increase. 

Summer Joy is all about slowing the raging fire, cooling the mind and softening into states of enjoyment & ease.

Ayurveda and Yoga offer practical wisdom that we all can incorporate into our lives with simplicity.

During our time together, Amber will share a therapeutically focused Pitta reducing flow to inspire your playful, easy-going nature. This sequence pays particular attention to harmonising both the physical and mental afflictions of the season. 

This workshop will provide a harmonious exchange between both the theoretical and practical applications of Ayurvedic ritual and gentle therapeutic Yoga practice.

The nature of this offering is general, open and for all levels of student, with both either only a little practical experience or a lot. Although we will cover a range of Ayurveda knowledge and recommendations, guidance will be given for the group according to seasonal renewal.
